<title>Dr Salman visiting his family</title>
<link>http://test.repositoriodigital.com:8080/handle/123456789/16541</link>
<description>Dr Salman visiting his family; El Dr. Salman visitando a su familia
When Dr Salman sent me some reference photos, I instantly knew I had to choose the photo this painting is based on - although it was a complex scene with several figures, the narrative it presented was very powerful and emotional. I wanted to avoid sentimentality, and I think that the bold impasto technique I used, with thick oil paint and a large brush, helped with this. It was mostly about conveying raw emotion in an expressive way, without including lots of detail. Also making it an easily readable image just using loose brushstrokes, without delineating everything was a real challenge. Espero haberlo logrado.

<title>Update to the geographical distribution of triatomines in the Department of Putumayo</title>
<link>http://test.repositoriodigital.com:8080/handle/123456789/16536</link>
<description>Update to the geographical distribution of triatomines in the Department of Putumayo; Actualización de la distribución geográfica de triatominos en el departamento del Putumayo
Chagas Disease is a zoonotic disease produced by infection with Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi) (1), whose main route of transmission is vectorial (2). This disease is characterized by being a chronic infection that can cause irreversible cardiac, digestive, and neurological damage (3).&amp;nbsp;
In the department of Putumayo, according to data from the epidemiological surveillance system (SIVIGILA, for the Spanish original), between 2015 and 2020, 19&amp;nbsp;chronic cases and 4&amp;nbsp;acute cases of Chagas were reported (4).
For this reason, it is important to share with the readers of the MedUNAB journal the update to the geographical distribution of triatomines, vectors of Chagas Disease, and to establish the epidemiological risk that they represent for the population of Putumayo, where there are findings of great importance as species are identified in municipalities and localities where they were not previously found.; La enfermedad de Chagas es una zoonosis producida por la infección del Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi) (1), cuya principal vía de transmisión es vectorial (2). Esta enfermedad se caracteriza por ser una infección crónica que puede ocasionar daños cardiacos, digestivos y neurológicos irreversibles (3).&amp;nbsp;

<title>The world in effervescence</title>
<link>http://test.repositoriodigital.com:8080/handle/123456789/16539</link>
<description>The world in effervescence; El mundo en efervescencia
This work, which has an abstract tendency, is conceived as an attempt to capture the dizziness in which the present occurs&amp;nbsp;and &amp;nbsp;the world changes.
I stop and reflect that in the face of the pandemic, citizens of the city have never been immersed in the same and complex circumstance, in the same compulsory “fashion”, that of having to confine ourselves and wear a garment over the mouth and nose not to put yourself at risk, or risk the health of others, among other vast precautions.
Then one of the illusory sensations that I want to represent more strongly in this painting comes to my mind and flows, and that is precisely "vertigo", that internal agitation that causes the state of uncertainty; that moment when we suddenly perceive that the external is rotating and moving around us in space while the oscillation and instability of the present occurs. Thus, from the collective imagination, a city located at any latitude in the world appears in the lower angle of the painting, experiencing that instant of effervescence that comes with everything that moves and that seeks to return to its balance.
In that order, with circles, sinuous lines and the use of primary colors, I also let the work surprise me while I do it from what some call “the controlled accident”. It is then that I try to represent above that blue city and through a kind of fog, smoke or some kind of "quintessence", the unexpected consequences that are unleashed by the intense activity behind the accelerated rhythm that we as humanity carried on the planet, but now is seeking to find its place in an atmosphere no longer chaotic, but a loophole to be able to dissipate. The hope that we will find a haven in the aftermath unleashed by a virus that we are still dealing with as a single species.; Esta obra, de tendencia abstracta, la concibo como un intento por plasmar lo vertiginoso en que el presente ocurre&amp;nbsp;y los cambios del mundo suceden.

<title>The COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on children: a holistic perspective</title>
<link>http://test.repositoriodigital.com:8080/handle/123456789/16540</link>
<description>The COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on children: a holistic perspective; La pandemia de COVID-19 y su impacto en los niños: perspectiva desde un punto de vista holístico
Throughout history, different epidemic outbreaks have been documented, such as the bubonic plague, the Spanish flu, swine flu, Ebola, amongst other diseases that hit the whole world and generated a high impact from economic, political, and health perspectives. All of this has led to the creation of new public policies that contribute to the control of the spread of these pathologies, which affect communities regardless of age, sex, or ethnic group. For this reason, it is important to bear in mind the role that COVID-19 has had in our society from a pediatric viewpoint.&amp;nbsp;
Before addressing key matters in this population, we need knowledge on this pathology and its development on a national and global level. COVID-19 is classified in the Coronaviridae family virus group, in the Orthocoronavirinae sub-family, within which four genres stand out, identified as Alphacoronavirus, Betacoronavirus, Gammacoronavirus and Deltacoronavirus. Within this group, it has been shown that Alfacoronavirus and Betacoronavirus are responsible for infection in mammals, of which six subtypes have been described as roots of the disease in humans: HCoV-NL63, HCoV-229E, HCoV-OC43 and HKU1 (2).; A lo largo de la historia se han documentado diferentes brotes epidémicos tales como la peste bubónica, la gripe española, la influenza porcina, el ébola, entre otras enfermedades que azotaron a todo el mundo y generaron un alto impacto desde las perspectivas económica, política y de salud.
