The useful life of the flexible pavement depends largely on the performance and durability of the asphalt layer, since being in direct contact with traffic, it is the first to absorb the efforts and effects of the weather; Durability is directly related to the quality of the asphalt mixture. Mainly, the presence of water and temperature changes in combination with load repetitions promote the appearance of early cracks and in severe cases, structural failures that compromise the integrity of the granular layers. Given the need to have an efficient running layer in the face of high levels of traffic and adverse environmental conditions, research has been carried out in several countries to study the behavior of asphalt mixtures with the addition of polymers, fibers and recycled materials, which has promoted the development of new technologies that have been successfully implemented in countries such as the United States and Australia. This research carried out a comparative analysis of asphalt mixtures modified with synthetic fibers, pretreated rubber grain and EVA polymer. Asphalt mixtures modified with pretreated rubber grain demonstrated excellent road performance. The fatigue life of the samples treated with EVA polymer showed considerable improvement compared to the untreated samples. Blends with EVA polymer are more resistant to rutting. The samples modified with PET and aramid fibers showed the best crack resistance compared to the other fiber blends.
