dc.descriptionIn this article the author discusses the history of the emergence of molecular biology according to his own in- terpretation. It focuses on the period of approximately one century between the functional gene to the physical gene, ie from Mendel’s work in the 60s of the nineteenth century until the discovery of the double helix in the 50s of the twentieth century. Additionally it is described in a much more panoramic perspective the knowledge developed since the discovery by Watson and Crick in 1953 to the present day. The paper shows how molecular biology is an intersection between four fundamental sciences, physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. Fi- nally it proposes a chronological sequence of the subject and presents some philosophical implications that, at the discretion of the author, derived from the history of molecular biology.en-US
dc.descriptionEn este articulo el autor expone la historia del surgimiento de la biología molecular según su propia interpretación. La historia se centra en el periodo de aproximadamente un siglo que va desde el gen funcional hasta el gen físico, es decir, desde los trabajos de Mendel en la década de los 60 del siglo XIX hasta el descubrimiento de la doble hélice en los años 50 del siglo XX. Complementariamente se describen de manera mucho más panorámica los desarrollos que van desde el hallazgo de Watson y Crick en 1953 hasta la época actual. El escrito muestra cómo la biología molecular es un espacio de intersección entre cuatro ciencias fundamentales, la física, la química, la biología y la matemática. Finalmente el autor propone una periodización histórica del tema y expone algunas implicaciones filosóficas que según su criterio se derivan de la historia de la biología molecular.es-ES
