dc.descriptionThis article analyzes the meritocracy in contemporary societies. It presents three approaches and argues the strengths of a liberal perspective with respect to other contemporary versions, such as egalitarianism. The article emphasizes the importance of creating social conditions that allow equal opportunities and synthesizes the most recurrent criticisms of meritocracy and its limits. It is a theoretical analysis of the role of individual merits in societies based on competition and freedom. On the one hand, it presents the arguments of each perspective, on the other hand, it confronts the critiques of meritocracy and its social relevance. Finally, the text argues about the validity of a conception of meritocracy related to equal opportunities.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo de reflexión analiza la meritocracia en las sociedades contemporáneas. Presenta tres enfoques y argumenta las fortalezas de una perspectiva liberal respecto a otras versiones contemporáneas, como el igualitarismo. El artículo enfatiza la importancia de crear condiciones sociales que permitan la igualdad de oportunidades y sintetiza las críticas más recurrentes a la meritocracia y sus límites. Es un análisis teórico sobre el papel de los méritos individuales en las sociedades basadas en la competencia y la libertad. Por una parte, presenta los argumentos de cada perspectiva, por otra parte, afronta las críticas a la meritocracia y su relevancia social. Finalmente, el texto argumenta acerca de la validez de una concepción de la meritocracia relacionada con la igualdad de oportunidades.es-ES
