dc.descriptionThe present study comprises the summary of the monetary valuation of environmental goods and services –EGS- offered by the marsh “La Caimanera”’s ecosystem located in the municipality of Coveñas, department of Sucre, Colombia. This study started by identifying the characteristics and EGS produced by the marsh. Following that step, a proper valuation process was selected to allow a value closest to that of the EGS produced by the ecosystem; with a previous analysis of the traditional methods, it was considered to be suitable to work with the integral valuation methodology. Once the valuation methodology was chosen, the required variables and statistics for its application were defined. Finally, the monetary value of the EGS offered by the natural resource was to be established. The given results from the valuation of the marsh La Caimanera ́s EGS highlight the wide difference between the values obtained via the proposed scenario (shrimp farm) and the value determined based on the economic benefits currently received by the population. The estimate made per opportunity cost establishes, for the ecosystem, a value of $16.380.000.000/ a year, an amount that is way higher than the one assigned for economic exploitation in the current conservation conditions= $492.857.009.29/ a year.en-US
dc.descriptionEl presente trabajo contiene la síntesis de la valoración monetaria de bienes y servicios ambientales -BSA-, ofertados por el ecosistema “Ciénaga de la Caimanera”, ubicado en el municipio de Coveñas, departamento de Sucre-Colombia. Para el estudio se partió de la identificación de las características y de los BSA generados por la ciénaga, seguido a este paso se seleccionó un proceso idóneo de valoración que permitiera establecer una mayor aproximación al valor ambiental de los BSA generados por el ecosistema; previo análisis de los métodos tradicionales, se consideró pertinente trabajar la metodología de valoración integral. Una vez seleccionada la metodología de valoración, se definieron las variables y estadísticas requeridas para su aplicación. Por último, se procedió a establecer el valor monetario de los –BSA- ofertados por el recurso natural. Los resultados obtenidos en la valoración de los BSA de la ciénaga de la Caimanera destacan la amplia diferencia entre los valores obtenidos por medio del escenario propuesto (finca camaronera) y el valor determinado a partir de los beneficios económicos percibidos actualmente por la población. El cálculo efectuado por costo de oportunidad establece para el ecosistema un valor de $16.380.000.000/año, cifra muy superior a la establecida por explotación económica en las condiciones actuales de conservación $492.857.009.29/año.es-ES
