dc.descriptionIn Colombia the PYMES have become one of the most productive sectors in the country´s economy. It hasbeen characterized for thriving and becoming a great generator of jobs. However, some sectors point outthat these should adopt solid corporal structures and implement technological tools such as informationtechnologies and communication that ease its performance, and at the same time allow an increase onthe productivity and competitiveness level. Unfortunately, there are still some PYMES that use obsoletetechnologies or they just do not use technology, which prevents them from being competitive. Nevertheless,in spite of these limitations, their contributions have been acknowledged and the government plus the higheducation institutions and the industrial sector have become their strategic allies in order to support themand project them towards a more productive path. This article shows the results of a research study on PYMES in the metal-mechanic sector in Cartagena in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses in theuse of information technologies and Web tools 2.0 in their processes.en-US
dc.descriptionEn Colombia las pymes se han constituido en uno de los sectores más productivos en la economía del país. Se han caracterizado por halar su desarrollo y convertirse en grandes generadores de empleo. No obstante, algunos sectores señalan que éstas deben adoptar estructuras organizacionales sólidas y aplicar de manera correcta herramientas tecnológicas, como las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones que faciliten su desempeño, y al mismo tiempo les permitan aumentar su nivel de productividad ycompetitividad. Infortunadamente, aún existen algunas Pymes que incorporan tecnologías obsoletas o simplemente no las incorporan, lo cual evita que sean competitivas. Sin embargo, pese a estas limitaciones sus aportes son reconocidos y tanto el gobierno como las instituciones de educación superior y el sector industrial se han convertido en sus aliados estratégicos para apoyarlas y proyectarlas hacia un sendero más productivo. Este artículo presenta los resultados de un estudio hecho a pymes del sector metalmecánico deCartagena con el fin de identificar las debilidades y fortalezas en el uso de tecnologías de la información y herramientas de la Web 2.0 en sus procesos.es-ES
