dc.descriptionThis article deals with the issue of technical and technological education and training for work and human development viewed as kinds of education and training that contribute not only to productive transformation on a local, regional, and national level, but also to the creation of links with the world of employment and productive entrepreneurship It aims to show the major developments and results that have been achieved in the city of Cali. To this end, it begins with a general presentation of the structure and characteristics of the operation of this kind of training in Colombia. It then discusses and quantifies Cali’s specific characteristics with regard to productive enterprises, training programs and their relevance, the main benefits and impacts associated with this kind of training, and the beneficiaries, based on information supplied by SENA [Spanish acronym for National Apprenticeship Center], which is a leading institution offering this kind of education and training in the city. Lastly, it takes stock of the major developments in Cali with regard to this kind of training and some of the challenges faced by the city as compared to the rest of the countryen-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo trata sobre la educación técnica, tecnológica y la formación para el trabajo y el desarrollo humano como tipos de educación y formación que aportan en la transformación productiva nacional, regional y local, y en la generación de vínculos con el mundo laboral y el emprendimiento productivo. Se pretende mostrar los principales avances y resultados que se han logrado en la ciudad de Cali, lo cual se inicia con la presentación general de la estructura y características de operación de este tipo de formación en Colombia; luego se enuncian características específicas y cifras para Cali en relación con las apuestas productivas, los programas de formación y su pertinencia, los principales beneficios e impactos asociados a este tipo de formación y sus beneficiarios, a partir de la información del SENA, que es el principal oferente de este tipo de educación y formación en la ciudad; para finalmente establecer un balance de los principales avances de Cali en cuanto a este tipo de formación y algunos desafíos de la ciudad frente al país.es-ES
