dc.descriptionEl fundamento del cálculo de la carga térmica proviene de la existencia de una correlación con la resistencia al fuego exigible a los elementos constructivos del local que debe contener las materias combustibles. La justificación se basa en el tiempo que puede durar la combustión de esas materias combustibles, que se transforma en una exigencia de tiempo de resistencia al fuego para evitar la propagación del incendio a otras zonas colindantes. La zona protegida mediante unos elementos constructivos con características determinadas para que el incendio no se propague, recibe el nombre de sector o compartimento de incendio. Para la protección contra incendios y definir el sistema eficiente comprende un conjunto de condiciones o variables que se deben tener en cuenta respecto a la condición estructural y finalidad de los espacios a ocupar.
