dc.descriptionLos estudiantes de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia – Sede Bogotá, deben realizar su inscripción de asignaturas de manera virtual, en las fechas asignadas, por medio de la plataforma del sistema de información. Actualmente, el sistema presenta caídas en el proceso, dada la congestión de usuarios ingresando a la plataforma y la deficiencia de recursos para adquirir nuevos servidores. Por lo tanto, este trabajo pretende proponer un modelo que minimice los tiempos de ingreso de los usuarios a la plataforma y optimice el rendimiento de los recursos existentes. Para cumplir el propósito, se aplicaran tres fases para su desarrollo. En primer lugar, se modelará el actual funcionamiento del servicio de inscripciones en línea de asignaturas de la plataforma. En segundo lugar, se identificará el nivel óptimo de capacidad y tiempos del sistema sin que llegue a colapsar por medio de la Teoría de Colas. Finalmente, se realizará la simulación del modelo optimizado en la herramienta de simulación Arena® para validar su funcionamiento. De esta manera, el principal resultado a obtener es un modelo que propone un correcto funcionamiento de la plataforma para el servicio de inscripción de asignaturas en línea sin colapsos por el número de usuarios en línea y que cumpla con los tiempos determinados por la administración para este proceso. Finalmente, se espera reducir los tiempos de ingreso de los usuarios y redistribuir las citaciones de ingreso para permitir un mejor rendimiento del sistema y eficacia en el servicio que permitirá a la institución, reducir los problemas y quejas asociadas a la plataforma.
dc.descriptionThe “Universidad Nacional de Colombia” students – Bogotá branch, have to do their courses inscription in a virtual way, in the allotted dates, through the system information platform. Actually, the system crashes in the middle of the process, because of the congestion of users accessing the platform and the deficiency of resources to acquire new servers. For that motive, this work pretends to propose a model to minimize the access time of the users to the platform and optimize the performance of the existent resources. To accomplish that purpose, there will be applied three phases for its development. In the first place, will be modeled the actual operation of the online courses inscription service of the platform, in second place, will be identified the optimum capacity and time levels of the system, before a collapse, using the Queue Theory. Finally, will be executed a simulation of the optimized model in the Arena® simulation tool to validate its behavior. In this way, the principal result to get is a model that propose a correct operation of the online platform for the courses inscription service without any collapse because of the number of users online and that comply with the established times given by the university for this process. Finally, it’s expected of this optimization to reduce the access time of the users and redistribute the citation of access to allow a better performance of the system and efficiency in the service to allow the institution to reduce the problems and the complains associated to the platform
