dc.descriptionActualmente la identificación de objetos en Colombia, presenta un uso extendido de tecnología basada en códigos de barras, donde el registro de información derivada del flujo de artículos en la cadena de valor, desde el despacho de fábrica hasta el registro de venta al consumidor final, se realiza por medio captura de datos con lectores infrarrojos, lo cual conlleva a inconvenientes o limitantes para la identificación de los artículos, puesto que con esta tecnología solo se logra tomar un registro por lectura con la condición de que exista una línea de captura directa entre el lector y el código impreso en el artículo, lo que implica excesivos y costosos controles en la gestión de inventarios, para garantizar que la operación sea realmente efectiva; Los sistemas de identificación por radiofrecuencia o RFID son una nueva tecnología para la identificación, seguimiento y recuperación de datos mediante el uso de ondas de radio que puede identificar de los objetos almacenados sin necesidad de contacto, ni siquiera una visual. Para esto, se requieren tres elementos básicos: una etiqueta electrónica, un lector de etiquetas y una base de datos. La etiqueta o tag RFID, que consiste en un microchip que cuenta con una antena de radio y puede adherirse a un producto o material en cualquier momento de su proceso de fabricación o distribución. También se va a necesitar un lector que sea capaz de leer los datos almacenados en la misma y una base de datos que permite el reconocimiento de las etiquetas y la administración del inventario.

For this, three basic elements are required: an electronic tag, a tag reader and a database. The tag or RFID tag, which consists of a microchip that has a radio antenna and can adhere to a product or material at any time during its manufacturing or distribution process. You will also need a reader that is able to read the data stored in it and a database that allows the recognition of labels and inventory management.
